I知 hoping somebody can tell me how deep the headlights are on the 9th gen. I知 trying to order some projectors to retro fit but I知 not sure what will fit.
Sorry, I never remember to actually measure for that kind of thing whenever I have them out!
I've had good enough luck with factory offerings to not have gotten too deeply into replacements, but will be interested to hear what you find out, and if you go down that road, how you like the results.
The ultimate result might just be you taking your lights out to check. This avoids any conflicting measuring methods. But my real reason for saying that is that they're such a pain sometimes, that you might as well dig into it and get more practiced for when you really need to get down and dirty during the actual replacement.
I'm sure some here have gotten it down to a few minute operation, but it always seemed far too fiddly to me and I avoided it like the plague.
I've done a few of these. I go with the 2.5" H1 Retro projectors off of Ebay. I've done one with expensive name brand, I think Morimoto was the name. There's no difference between those and the 30 dollar no-name projectors. Same glass lens, same solenoid for high beams . I just looked up the last ones I bought and the description says 130mm over all length. The projector is close to the lens but have not had issues and ran them for years.
Great addition to the thread BlackBeauty. Thanks!
Have you ever taken a pic of the beam pattern up on a wall, or similar by any chance? Be great to see it if you have.
Happy to share, Paul! I've not taken a picture against a wall but they're pretty great. Takes a bit to get them to line up. They shoot out a straight line lowbeam and blind everyone with highbeam.
*Protip: use a tad of superglue so the projector doesn't rotate inside the housing.
