I have 77' 302 that going into a 76' F100. With that being said, it is a running engine that was pulled by me and is sitting on a stand. I am basically wanting to do a refresh on this engine so that I can use it as not only a mock up for my project but to also be able to drive it daily while my roller engine is getting rebuilt into a stroker motor. As of now my plan is to re-gasket the engine, replace intake with a 4-barrel intake/carb. I am also wanting to install a budget minded cam into it. However, I have no clue what cam I would want to run that is still going to be streetable but also have a bit of a chop to it at idle. So with the above being said, I am looking for advice on a cam kit and the proper size 4 barrel carb to run on this engine.
By the way, it will have a set of BBK equal length shorties on it and also backed by a 3 speed top-loader transmission.

For a mild performance improvement, get an Edelbrock Performer intake and 600 CFM carburetor. The "choppy" idle is a silly requirement, since that usually the result of a more aggressive profile. Having said that, that HE 268H will probably sound a little more aggressive than stock.

I have an Edelbrock Performer intake and on the hunt for a 4 barrel carb now. I am trying to make this engine run better than stock, but trying to do it all on a budget. Basically wanting it sound like a 302 should and get this all together without breaking the bank and while I am having the roller engine that I have stroked to a 347. Either way, thank you for your reply and advice.
