hey guys i have a 75 ford f-100 that i want to change the 300-6 for a 302 that is out of a 68 ford Galaxie, right now i have the motor all apart and found out the piston skirts where cracked and so far i wanted to know what kinda of power this engine would have had stock back in 68 with a 2-barrel carb
the mods i wanted to do where full engine rebuild
a cam don't know what i should go with
headers http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Se...umber=31-238-3
ederbrock perf intake
edlerbrock perf 600 cfm carb
4-speed tranny
The driving will mostly if not all will be street and a plan on driving in on the highway and wanna make decent gas mileage.
plus what kinda of horsepower would i get with all of this work and would it be worth all the trouble?
in 68 i believe they were around 230 hp due to higher compression. i think with a good cam, carb, headers, and intake you could make 275-300 hp easily. cam is the main factor in hp vs. torque. depends on what you want from it. i would work the heads over with the die grinder (ports) and try to get around 9.5-1 compression with the new pistons. then call comp cam help and ask what they recomend for a good street cam and intake. also some might disagree, but trust me, a holley 600 would be a lot better then that edelbrock, i've messed with both.
