This is my first post on the forum so please bare with me. I've just purchased a new (to me) 1992 F-250 with the 7.3L IDI. I've been looking for one of these trucks for years and finally got my hands on one. The engine has been freshly rebuilt, but the truck was in the midst of being restored by the previous owner when he had to sell it. As a result there's a lot of things not hooked up. One in particular that is stumping me is the return line from the heater core. I've got one line that goes into the back of the engine, and the return line just has a screwdriver stuck up it and hose clamped in place. As I understand it, that line is supposed to go back into the water pump, but I can't figure out where. Does anyone have a diagram of the coolant lines or better yet a picture of where there's goes into the water pump? I can see a plug on the top of the pump in the dead middle, but wanted to make sure that's where the coolant line is supposed to go before I go unscrewing something.
There actually are 2 plugs on top of the water pump, the one in the middle and another one a bit off towards the passenger side of the truck from it, right next to the vertical bracket that holds the curved arm your alternator's top bolt goes thru. That offset port should have a quite tall barb fitting instead of a plug, and the heater core return hose pretty much follows the alternator's curved arm and hits that barb fitting. The supply hose for the heater core connects to a barb fitting low on the passenger-side engine head, between and above the exhaust ports for the front 2 cylinders on that side.
