91 F250, 7.3 IDI, Three of my injector lines, where they connect to the injectors, are leaking so I figured I would go ahead and replace the o-rings and return lines as this sounds like the most common fix. Two of the three steel injection lines came off easily, the one I cylinder one (I believe that's the correct number, closest to the front, passenger side) seems to be in a bind. I don't want to muscle it off, just using a standard hand 5/8" hand wench. Anyone ever run into a cross-threaded injector line? Should I just try and muscle it off? Any other ideas? I am leaning towards purchasing that single line to have on standby in case that is the issue, I have some spare injectors on hand anyway in case replacing the o-rings and return lines don't fix the leaks.
I just noticed that the connection to this cylinder looks completely different than the others, some type of fitting connected to the injector and injector line a weird looking bushing or something slips over the connection here is the connection with the bushing slid up
Is this some type of hack-job repair you think or should this extra fitting be there? Have not seen anything about it on other posts.
Extra fitting should be there, that’s the timing adapter for when you dynamically (iirc) time these engines. I’ve never had one cross thread, I think it would be quite hard to do. Are you sure your not turning the nut and adapter together as one? Sometimes the nut is tighter on the adapter than the adapter is to the injector. Should be able to put a wrench on the adapter and then break the line loose, then unscrew the adapter from the injector
