It has been a really long time since being on the forum! I sold my 2013 F150 Platinum for a Tesla back in 2018 and my wife and I have just purchased a 2017 F150 Platinum max tow that is pretty loaded! It has the newer 3.5L EGOboost. Sadly it does not have the extendable tow mirrors that I would have liked, and I will look into options of getting those eventually. This particular truck has an issue with the sync 3. I updated the software but it still is sluggish and often freezes. The dealer I got it from (BMW) did agree to fix it. They want to look at it first and I was suggesting that they just drive it right down the street to Ford and have them look at it. I am excited to have a truck again for sure and we will eventually use this as our tow vehicle when I retire and we buy a RV for full timing. Looking forward to interacting with everyone again!
Good looking truck. Meh about the extendable tow mirrors, I specifically ordered mine without them, and happy I did. You can see great without them, once you get a travel trailer, easy clip on mirrors work just fine. As you will learn, payload is usually the limiting factor on what size travel trailer you can pull. When you get a chance, look at the yellow sticker in the drivers door and see what your carry capacity is. It is a critical number in the process.
Pulling a 22' boat that 8.5' wide on the trailer, I have had no issues with the standard mirrors. I used to think I wanted towing mirrors after having the Super Duty, now I never think about it.
So far they said updating the software might have resolved it...we shall see when I get it back. They are replacing the cam phasers under warranty under the powertrain warranty. They are also resolving some recall notices for it while they have it at the Ford dealer. I did mention to them that if it is still sluggish to have the dealer replace the APIM.

Having this replaced will resolve the sluggishness of the SYNC 3 system and yes, this is a known issue by many if not all Ford dealers.
It’s been awhile but the dealer did in fact have to replace the APIM module and all is working fine now. The new issue is the cruise control stopped working all together! Also my sun roof won’t open oddly enough. Good thing I bought an extended warranty!
Cruise control? Any other goofy electrical gremlins? Are you on original battery? And the sun roof, ummm, many have issues with them, leaks, clogged drains, and broken tracks. I have read that proper maintenance of the tracks with a certain grease is certainly advisable.
