Electrical Issues
I'm new here, My name is Tyler and i have recently purchased a 99 F350 7.3L it runs fairly well for what i can tell. That being said I do not have a whole lot of experience working on diesels.
The other day I was driving to work and the truck completely shut off on me. A few things that I ran through were as follows; it was a little low on oil maybe about 2.5Q, hpop and lpop are fairly new within 3000 miles, as well as a new smaller turbo, I have topped all fluids and truck still wouldn't start. I then went through the fuses and found one that had popped. me and my father had then tried to use a wire to temporarily jump the connection to at least get it running and it worked. we then turned it off and replaced the wire in the fuse box with the correct fuse. this seemed to temporarily fix whatever issues the truck was having that didn't allow it to start. we believe it may be a short in the wiring in the valve cover. As this is something that my dads mechanic friends said is a common issues. Can anyone shine some light here so that I can comfortably use my truck. I just don't want to spend the time taking everything off just to find out I could have done a simpler fix.

One of the great things about these trucks is they will stop running when the oil gets too low. Prevents catastrophic failure.
Which fuse blew out? That will point us to the issue.
The best tool in your arsenal is Forscan app on your android, and a BT adapter so you can read codes, monitor sensors, and run tests.
As to BT adapters for the OBDII port there are many, cheap to expensive, do some research.
Where are you located?
