AE help

attempted to hook the scanner up to my truck and it wont read anything or do any tests. everything just shows 0.00 on the live data.

have it set to

non obdII
j1850pwm

1995
powerstroke 7.3l
enhanced powertrain

is this right?

i have heard that if the cigarette lighter socket fuse is blown you could have this issue

got power at the DLC it connects to my truck but wont read codes or the sensor data did check the fuse its good. put new injectors in my truck and fixed the smoking issue, drove it a little ways this morning and now it has a miss to it, really want to do a buzz test but it doesnt work to see if a wire got screwed up or something under the valve covers until i get a chance to pull them back off

Did you adjust the communication settings? We just got AE on Bill's computer and it took several times for it to recognize the truck. I had to keep messing around with the comm settings to get it to work. Also, do you have it set to auto connect? When you launch the scan tool, does it bring up a box in front of AE that is constantly attempting to connect to the vehicle?

The settings that you listed sound accurate from what I recall.

Basic question - have you turned the key on to make the connection (did it make the connection prior to you attempting to start the truck and read live data). I assume that it did.

I had your same problem the other night with ours hooked up to Bill's truck. I simply shut down AE (with the vehicle engine running) and relaunched. I think the AE manual says that it doesn't matter if the engine is running or not when you launch AE. Anyway, I relaunched and it reconnected and started working.

Oh, and another basic question - In the live data tab, have you selected the data that you want to read from the drop-down menus below each data pane? Have you tried something simple like Engine RPM's or Voltage to see if it's reading those?

Sorry if the questions are too basic. Just trying to get some info.

it has worked in the past, have used it several times, had it on my other car earlier in the week so i did go back and change it to the settings that i thought were right and it will connect like normal goes past the first screen even the reading the 400 something sensors part but wont show anything in any form. key is on it wont connect with it not being on. i dont know whats up have exited and closed and restarted the laptop, nothing works...
