i was interested in this f700 with diesel

 

The 17 digit VIN started in 1981. I'll get back to you later. I tried the decoder here (Just click on your VIN) but it came up blank.

 

Must be an 83 c700. Supposed to be 8.2l diesel.

 

1FD = Ford Motor Co USA incomplete vehicle

W = Class 6, 19,501-26,000 lbs GVWR, air brakes

D74 = '81-'86 non-sleeper C700 diesel

N = Detroit DDA 990N --OR-- DDA990T 8 cylinder 8.2L/501 CID diesel (let me guess, Turbo or Naturally aspirated?)

7 = Ford use, check digit. Ignore

D = 1983 model year code

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

A28203 = Serial number

There are other codes for axle and transmission on the certification lable. Post a pic if you want that info looked up.
