Two months ago I bought F150 4,6 liters and works fine.
Few days ago I notice that the point of the trans on the dash is one speeed down. I mean if is in P, the point is on R. If the lever is on D, the point is on N, and so...
How to fix this? Here lever is positioned at 1, but on the dash is far right. Here the lever is on P, but point is on R.
The cable that moves the pointer has a plastic adjuster piece down below the steering column that breaks
If you look down there there is a black adjuster thumbwheel that moves the pointer
That is where you will find yours broken
Damn little piece is only available by purchasing a PRNDLE indicator assembly from Ford
So I go to the wrecking yard twice a year in search of them
I grab all I can find as I have hundreds of clients driving Fords
There are 2 styles
I'll post a picture of one later today when I get to my toolbox if I can
Take that photo to a dealership and see if they can order the part. Likely hard to find. Maybe try repairing that one ? Maybe find one from a salvage yard.
Dealership in Macedonia for American F150 is not possible to find
however I will try to make it on 3d printer, but if you could help in disassemble procedure will be great
Not available from ford separate from the expensive prndl indicator
Yours is the more common one at least
Pretty easy to change
Remove the 7/32 screw and pull the cable down enough to rotate the thumbwheel and remove the broken plastic piece
The cable easily slides back thru the threaded portion once you get the replacement bracket piece back in place
The junkyard or my toolbox is the best place to find a good one
If I look and have several I could be talked into sending you one
It appears the purpose of the piece is to hold the turnwheel in place. Another option is to simply adjust the wheel to the desired position and wrap it in some tape to keep it in place.
All I have is 3 or the older style harder to find ones
Junkyard or I do like the 3d printer approach
Been going to weld one up from sheet metal myself
I work on many fords and replace these on a regular basis
When I go to the junkyard. I get them all or at least 5 or 6 to keep me in them
Looks like I need to go back
Tape, wire ties or baling wire is futile
Be careful with the black threaded cable
If you break that you need the whole shooting match and have to pull the instrument cluster all apart to replace the indicator assembly
It's a 5 minute repair if you have a good little cable bracket
Ohooo you have a lot
I Will need more instructions about replacing, video will be perfect if there is one.
Jere we don't have too much of this Fords, so is very hard to do something. I also have 1994 E350 7.3 IDI ambulance and is hard to repair something if is not this forum.
