I also have an F500 and could use some help with a decode.
The guy I got it from said it was a 391, but I want make sure before I start buying parts....
I'll give you your own thread for this truck to avoid confusion.
F50 = F500
C = 330 2V MD FT gas V8. (does your engine have a 4bbl carb? A 391 might have been swapped in, but it was born with the 330. Same basic engine family)
C = Ontario Truck Plant
H90757 = 1970 numerical series
N = Dark Green
F504 = F500, 18,000 lbs GVWR
4 8 = I do not have complete info for upholstery etc, but this seems to indicate standard cab without back of cab equipment. (sold as chassis & cab)
A = New Process model 435 four speed transmission
42 = Rockwell model D-100N single speed rear axle, 13,000 lb capacity, 6.20 ratio
No front axle code. From '64 to '69 only optional axles were listed. That habit must have carried over to yours. Your front axle would probably be the standard, a Ford with 5,000 lbs capacity and no power steering.
18000 = 18,000 lbs GVWR
164 3800 = 164 certified net HP @ 3800, which matches the 330 FT, all flavors
21 = Atlanta District Code
No special order number, so "bought off the lot" from regular inventory.
Let me know if things don't line up.
Check your wheels, still plenty widowmakers floating around in '70.
Thanks for the info. I have discovered the motor is a replacement (see image). Also, I'm having an issue with this thing not wanting to run properly and took the carb off to clean or rebuild it. Yes it is a 4bbl, It's an edelbrock 1407, seems a bit large for this engine if indeed it is a 330, any thoughts?? Not sure I want to spend the money to rebuild it if I should go with a smaller cfm carb to get the results im looking for

All info lines up except that it has a 5 speed tran. with granny 1st, it also has a two speed rear end? It has been upgraded to aluminum Alcoa wheels, but they are 19" I'm wondering if going to a 22.5" setup will help with the super low gearing?
Lots of changes then. 19.5s are all going to be small diameter. 22.5s would give you a taller tire but are hard to find and pretty expensive by the time you find wheels and tires.
Your two speed should have the ratio stamped into the case just above the pinion.
That's a lot of changes for an F500. It's also possible someone changed the door, or maybe even the cab.
Good point. You can see the dark green under blue paint in the link to the warranty plate in post 1. Rivets are OEM but like you say, maybe the whole door came over.
Anyone know a good place to find an aftermarket fuel tank? Mine seems to be full of crap that keeps clogging the lines....
or maybe which truck models will interchange, I can't find anyone who has a tank for an f500

Anyone know the stock tire and wheel sizes for this truck? Also the Lug pattern. I'm wanting to sell these aluminum Alcoa 19.5's and go to a larger tire/wheel combo to help the super low gearing. I think it would be a much better truck to use then....
OEM tire on an F500 in 1970.... At that GVWR it might have been an 8.25 x 20 tube type, with tubeless an option. I'm not sure what the tubeless option would have been--19.5s or 22.5s. Lower GVWR would be 7.50 or 7.75 x 20 tube type.
I didn't spend much time looking beyond that, as most of the trucks we had on the farm--F6, F600, IH, GMC, were 8.25 or 9.00s. We had a WWII GI GMC with 7.75 x 20s.
It looks like 19.5s are topped out a 34 to 35 inches in diameter.
