I just today took my ol' girl into town for a drive and to wash her off. Left her running the entire time I washed. Maybe close to 10 minutes she had been running. Temp did not go into the NORMAL range. Stayed just above the C. Could this be a faulty coolant temp sensor? How would I check to see what this could be? Too much coolant perhaps? The guy I bought it from said he had replaced the radiator and put fresh coolant in it, but I am not sure if it is straight coolant or what. I will have to get one of those plastic coolant testers to find out what % the coolant is at.
anybody ever figure out how to quiet these pesky noisy Ford POWER STEERING PUMPS? Mine whines and the guy I bought the truck from said he replaced it and still does the same thing...
Pull the wire off of the sender and ground it with the key ON. If the gauge goes full HOT then your gauge and wiring are fine and it's either the sender or the thermostat has stuck open.

Some guys claim that putting this stuff: https://www.lubegard.com/products/psf-protectant/ In the Power steering quiets them down. I've not had luck with it. The C2 pumps just howl. It's what they do, they've all done it, on every OBS truck I've ever owned. I just accept it, it's a zen thing.

That's what I figured. my ex husband had a 1991 F150 shortbed 5.0L v8 that had the same issue. Nothing we did quieted it down.
Ok, but in relation to looking at the engine from the top....
Try this orientation. This is the view if you were in front of the truck (bottom of the photo) standing on the bumper looking down. The temperature gauge sender is on the lower right.
