1970 Ford 302 Starter Replacement
I bought it about 15 years ago and it had some work done previously.
It has a 1980 302 from a full "size ford" with a manual 3 speed.
It has a 1970 starter with number D0AF-11131-D stamped on it.
This set up has worked well until now.
Does anyone know what new starter will replace this one since it is apparently discontinued?
Thanks
But, I cannot imagine that a good auto parts store, like NAPA, or else Jeggs or Summit could not provide you with a starter that would work.
BTW, that number is only an engineering number, not a part number.
The fact that was a an engineering number explains my quandary. I couldn't believe there were so many compatible numbers for a 1970 302 but none never ever listed the one I had.
Much appreciated.
If you haven't already found a starter or got the original rebuilt we have some options for you.
With this being a 3-speed manual that should take a 3/8 in. offset starter which would be for a 164 tooth flywheel. We put together a group of options for that here. These replace OEM starters with a "nose" that extends 2 in. past the mounting surface.
Now if this has a 157 tooth flywheel that would take a 3/4 in. offset starter. For that, you would want to look at the options here. These replace OEM starters with a "nose" that extends 2 3/8 in. past the mounting surface.
