Okay so let me start this with the original issue.
I was driving home 65 on highway and felt just sudden loss of power(was struggling to accelerate until turbo kicked in at about 17 psi full throttle). Was able to get it home and turned it off. Was able to turn it on 20 minutes later and drive around to see if the issue remained(it did).
Replaced the map hose following day(had very small cracks) and tried starting and couldn’t start. I then replaced the map sensor itself and got no luck. I then installed new alternator and 2 new batteries still no luck. I checked EGR valve and it was clean. I ran gauges with my Scan gauge and got the following while cranking:
FICM Sync: 1
FICM Voltage: 47.5-48
ICP: 1245
IPR: 45.3
I did notice smoke coming from the area around turbo. Can’t narrow if it is the turbo itself or possibly hpop smoking under it. I’m running out of ideas. Anyone have any ideas?
I was debating it could be a fuel issue but I did smell a lot of fuel exiting the exhaust accompanied by white smoke. Forgot to mention but I will check fuel pressure once my billet cap comes
Fuel pressure tester attaches right to the fuel bowl if you have the right adapter. Have you checked for fuel in the bowl? I think you have to have oil and low pressure pump to get HPOP pressure which you have, but have you checked thw oil?
Download ForScan Lite to a smartphone or tablet, buy the appropriate adapter for your device (BAFX brand WiFi or BlueTooth are good values), and scan for codes.
So I checked the oil, it was fine but I went ahead and did a oil change just to be safe. I will be receiving the adapter that plugs into the fuel bowl this week to check for fuel pressure. My main concern is the smoke coming from the engine compartment itself. It looks like it’s either coming from turbo or hpop. Can’t narrow it down so I’m pulling turbo out today and getting it cleaned. I also do have a code reader I just use scan gauge for live data when I’m trouble shooting because it just makes it easier for me.
Please post what scan too it is that you have. There are MANY out there that are marginal at code reading.
If it still doesn't start after the turbo is re-installed, post cranking data for
rpms
ICP sensor volts
FICM VPower
FICM LPower
Cam/crank Sync
Injector pulse width
If it is only the smoke you are worried about, then dive in. No one on the internet will be able to help with that any better than a person with his/her head under the hood. That said, I can't see why your HPOP would be smoking ............
I will post that data once I’m off work! As for the scanner, don’t remember off the top of my head but I’m pretty sure it is oreillys brand. I will post that as well after work
