That frame looks to be in pretty good shape. What kind/brand of lowering kit are you going to use.? I went with the DJM stuff I've got the rear all done now I just have to do the front. I've been spraying everything with P B Blaster every few days so when I get to it I hope everything comes apart easy. lol.
I too bought the DMJ kit, for the rear only, I am hoping to level the truck out. Looks pretty easy to install, the front end just got new bushings and tie rods
before I got the truck so I thought I would leave it alone and see how it looks.
That looks great. I have a 69. I have been toying with buying a frame from a junkyard and restoring it and then swapping my frame out. That way my truck doesnt have to be down AS long. It all sounds good in theory lol. What kind of media did you use? I have a cheap blaster from harbor freight but would obviously wanna upgrade for a big job like that.
It was SIL blasting sand number 4 I used, you have to go really fast and light on the panel surfaces for sure. You don’t want to warp them At all.
I bought some glass medium for the aluminum intake , the mechanic said it is better for aluminum. He has been doing this for years so , I usually go with what he says.
I like the idea of a frame swap out, too bad your not here! I have an extra one! 😜
I have always heard about the "warping" of thin metal when blasting. What specifically causes it? Thanks for the info. Hahaha wheres "here" maybe i can be there 😏

The sand or what ever is being used being forced into the metal to remove what ever it is you want gone causes heat and this heat in a small area (nozzle) is what makes it warp. I believe the couser the sand the worst the heat.
Now there is blasting that also uses water with the sand and that keeps the heat done when doing sheet metal.
They also add a chemical to the water to keep the metal from flash rusting. Had a buddy that had a hood done and it came out great and no warping.
Wonder if that is the dustless blasting? This was over 10 years ago and did not think to ask as dustless blasting was not a thing back then that I knew of.
Oh think his profile said he is north of the boarder little far from AZ

You're right, using water with sandblasting is "dustless sandblasting" but I learned something new.. I didn't know they added a chemical to prevent flash rusting. That's cool!
Im here!! Haha, arent you in Calgary? Is the other frame sandblasted?
think im going with my current frame but your work looks awesome. Very jelous of the equipment you have to work with! Im currently wire wheeling the front frame while everything is disassembled. Lots of elbow grease and hard to get into the tight spots.
keep up the good work and thanks for keeping us updated!
Yes it does get hot which causes warping if you hold in one spot too long or shoot at. 90 degree angle. Light blast at a 40 degree I guess is best. And move fast. I will take pics of the doors and cab next. Hopefully this week.
I have heard of the soda blasting too, does it make less heat? Most likely. Does it go as quick? I have to do the cab yet. I bought a tote of sand so I have a bunch of that left. I have to really concentrate on an easy cover spray and fast.
