please. can anybody help us out. We have a 1987 F600 ford dump/were installing a new clutch pressure plate.. Upgrading to a M.PACT, ceramic clutch and 4 finger pressure plate.. installing new clutch and pressure plate, it doesn't appear that the pressure plate is sitting flush on the fly wheel.. maybe 3/8 a way from flywheel. Like were used to.. When we tighten up the bolts through the pressure plate into the flywheel it snugs the pressure plate up onto the flywheel, but the release fingers /diaphragm is drawn in.. I don't think this is right.. Did rock auto give us the wrong kit? each release fingers on the pressure plate there's two bolts on each area x4.on the pressure plate is there any adjustment in this pressure plate? Hate to put that 300 pound transmission back in and then have to repeat and take it back out .Can any you folks help us.. Thank you.kos2kos
The pressure plate staying away from the flywheel before tightning sounds normal, when the bolts are tightnend that puts pressure on the clutch disk, it doesn't take much finger travel to release the clutch.
The fingers will be drawn in when you tighten up the pressure plate bolts
You can test the clutch with a long clutch alignment tool on that truck, tighten the pressure plate bolts and line up the throwout bearing with the fingers, have some one press the clutch pedal down and see if the disc becomes lose, use the tool to align the disc before releasing the pedal
If all works as it should install the transmission
