Pressure Plate

I need to install a new clutch pressure plate in my 65 F100, 240 straight six. I noticed two different kinds of pressure plates. One is the old style like what the pickup came with, the other is a diapragm kind like on late model vehicles. Will this new type work with my setup, and is there any benefit to change to the new style pressure plate.

I had to change over to the new type of pressure plate due to unavailability of the older types in South Africa. The only thing I had to do was to have the new pressure plate "PCDd" to the flywheel. The advantage was that I could use a clutch kit from a much later model F250. This meant that I had a much larger clutch plate and pressure plate and the new thrust bearing that came with the kit. This setup is working perfectly.

The diaphragm pressure plate will have lower pedal pressure and normally higher holding power. Most heavy duty replacement clutches for the old "Long" style are diaphragm systems.
