i have an 88 ranger with the 2.9 automatic 4wd looking for ideas on keeping it from being stolen, around here cars and trucks are being stolen every day! not sure what would be the best and easiest way to stop them from stealing my truck..at the same time i need to keep it simple for me and impossible for a thief to start it.
I know you can buy a switch to disconnect the battery, but you would have to turn it on and off . I am thinking something simple like a dash mounted toggle switch that disconnects the power to the starter.
On my 56 F100, I installed a toggle switch for the fuel pump so I could trouble shoot other electrical problems without running the fuel pump any time the key was on.

Reason: Another thought
Immobilization, in the form of a well hidden switch that disables the ignition, fuel system, PCM, etc. Then, a tracking device, of which your budget will drive what you buy. Do NOT waste money in devices such as the Club that are VERY easily defeated. Beware of who you hand your key to when the vehicle is in for service, tires, body shop, etc and when you don't have the keys in your pocket while there. And lastly, come election time, vote out our woke governor, AG and the legislators in our state that legalized ALL drugs (heroin, meth, etc) and disabled/defunded our police. A similar response at election time need be applied to woke judges who set $0 bail to indigent, repeat offenders who commit theft and other felonies, and are released from jail the next day. Hold the people that created these problems accountable!
