I've been preparing and repairing my 54 seat frame and springs for a new seat cover. These two springs were positioned under the driver position. The coil spring is broken on both. Has anyone found replacement springs for these?
Those are called seat snubbers, designed to take the bounce out of the seat when you hit a bump. They don't look broken to me. I've never seen reproductions made, either for the spring or the whole snubber. You don't really need them.
Look close at the spring Abe. The outer end is supposed to be held by the tap. The end of the spring is broken off. Same on both.
If I could find a spring, I’d replace it but seems they’re not available.
There is a set on eBay. I know because they are mine. I'm not allowed per fte guidelines to post a link to my own eBay items
I looked at your pics and they look fine to me as well. The spring isn't really a spring is a cushion to reduce bounce. If they have friction when you move them they are operating correctly
As Bigwin said, it looks fine. They don't provide radial resistance like a hood spring, they provide compressive resistance like a suspension spring. It is pressing back against the flat part of the arm.
