Just pulled the seat out of my Truck and am looking for any advise whether it is repairable or not? Restoring the truck as original as possible. Thanks for the suggestions.
Looks typical to me. The cover kits typically come with the batting you need to replace. I needed some burlap from the fabric store but that's it. Check for broken parts when you strip the old cover and go from there.
And if the springs are broken, a good spring shop will have the Z spring replacements. If you have coils in the bottom, find someone with bad springs and get the good ones from that seat. If memory is correct, there are three lengths of springs in the seat base with coil springs.
Mine was way worse . it cost me 800 plus to repair it , basically due to my seat material choice . white vinyl and green zodiac ( thats where the cost came in ! )
I'd say it looks pretty standard. I tried upholstery myself & it came out pretty good. I bought a cover from Raybuck & the rest of the materials from Blue Oval.
Your seat is repairable. Look at this thread about my seat that I had to repair some zig zag springs. I bought clips, zig zag steel and straight steel stock from a local upholsterer. I found good zig zag springs from a 56 in a local junkyard. My seat looked good on the outside but the spring were broken and needed a lot of repair.
I did it! Stripped it down to the springs and found rust everywhere. Many hours with a wire brush on a drill got it there, then used rust conversion paint and a top coat of argent silver paint. I purchased the seat cover from Mid-fifties and the materials from a fabric store.
My duck cloth is a little bunched up, but I'll fix that...

I love the look of that cover. Thanks for the info, I'll bookmark the Raybuck site for future reference.
