7.3 IDI NA, pump turned up 1.5 flats but that feels more like bringing it back to stock after someone thought they turned it up, but actually turned it down
sometimes she goes, sometimes she dont
I do:
1 plug cycle, tap throttle to get high idle, hit the key and it normally works, when it does fire sometimes it stays running, other times it will run 1 or 2 seconds and die
return lines catching air?
bleed the injectors again?
sounds like air intrusion. when it starts/dies, are you parked engine uphill?
before starting after sitting overnight, drop the fuel filter and see if it is full or not.
if not, put a return line kit in it.
it is currently parked on my loading dock ramp engine uphill, should I turn it around so its downhill and let it sit till I need to drive it this afternoon and see if that helps?
try it. let it run a bit after spinning it around.
if it fires rite up after parking engine downhill there is your smoking gun for air intrusion.
when i realized my 88 would not start engine uphill, it had just turned winter.
i started backing into the parking spot so engine was downhill, i went all winter without starting issues until it got warm enough to climb in the engine and do the return line kit. my grade was steep enough that backing in put the tank almost 1 foot higher than pulling in.
that made the difference between the filter draining back to the tank or not.
when changing fuel filter, fill it up with ATF before putting it on. this way you do not get an air bubble in injector pump when trying to prime system after filter change.
the high detergent ATF acts as a cleaning agent.
once a year i fill new filter with ATF and put it on. run for 30 seconds or so to get the ATF in the injector pump and injectors, then shut off and let it sit for minimum 12 hours. then fire it up and run it like i stole it. the ATF will clean/dissolve all the gunk that has built up in the system over the past year, and running it like you stole it blows it all out and burns it out the tail pipe.
i can actually feel a difference in how it runs after treatment.
Also using ATF,or Marvel Mystery Oil, depends what I have on hand.
Then you know what you are pouring into your new Filter is coming from a clean source.
