Was wondering if anyone who has installed a Bedrug kit has had any issue with getting a clean install in all corners? Got 2 friends who installed them in a 2020 and a 2021 F250 Lariat. It seems like the rug is somewhat lumpy around near the rear of the wheel wells. It is also hard to get a good fit along the top edge near the rails where the bed and the rails meet.
Both trucks are short beds.
One was installed by a dealer and one we installed.
Mine is a little lumpy over the wheel wells also. Not enough that I'm going to be all upset about it though. Trying to get flat carpet to lay flat over multi angled and curved metal is pretty much impossible.
Not perfect, but works very well. I would've loved the perfectly flat TV Commercial fit, but that's not realistic with all the angles and bulges in the bed. It looks really good to the eye and seems to stay where its supposed to, even though some Velcro isn't holding all that well. If you have Line-Ex, order a bunch of adhesive promoter off Amazon. It needs much more than you'll receive with the kit. Ultimately, its great though!
I'm considering one, but I'm more drawn to the Bedrug Bedtred Impact Bed Mat than the full meal deal. Or just their tail gate cover and a regular F-350 bed rug. Have to wait to see what the 5th wheel prep does to the bed then decide which mat might be easier to modify LOL
Like others, mine is a little wrinkled above the wheel wells. If I were to do it again I would do it a little different. First I would only install the Velcro strips on the bottom floor section. Next I would take more time to make sure the front corners are tucked up as snug as possible. Then I would remove the backing from the Velcro one piece at a time and start at the front corner, making sure it was completely wedged in, and make my way back. After the floor was done I would start working on the front of the bed first (instead of one of the sides). I would peel the front of the BedRug down and stick the bottom row of Velcro tabs on, and then pull the backing off one at a time until the whole bottom row was done. Next I would do the middle row, and finally the top, bulkhead strip. Once the entire front section was done I would start on one side, and again put the Velcro strips along the bottom edge only first. Make sure to pay attention around the wheel wells and push the sides against the wall to see where exactly to start pulling the back off the velcro strips and stick the whole bottom row first. Then the middle, and finally the top. Then repeat on the opposite side.
I am happy enough with the way mine turned out, and even with more attention I don’t see it being completely flat and perfect. The instructions stated to remove the Velcro backings from the entire side and then basically lay it up and stick it down. When I did this the entire side was sticking and didn’t allow me to really position it the best. I peeled some Velcro tabs loose along the way, but overall, it could have been better. I feel like doing one single tab at a time will have better results, and honestly shouldn’t take much, if any longer.
But, as for the BedRug, I love it! I thought about just the floor mat only, but I like that the whole bed is covered, and I would buy another one if I had another truck. Everyone that has seen it says they really like it too. Now, if it were a daily work truck, I would just get a floor mat, but this isn’t a work truck and will really only be hauling around camping equipment and firewood. And random trips with lumber from Lowes or something… but not loose gravel or mulch.
mine is a little lumpy on the sides, I guess it may have been cleaner with some more pieces of strategically placed velcro. Not that big of a deal. I took a picture.
Like the others, a little lumpy over the wheel wells. Bed light cut-outs were not aligned perfectly as well. Installed in cool temps so may try to re-position in the heat of the summer, but as I have a tonneau cover it can't readily be seen so not a big deal.
Same on my F150, sides just above the wells. Must be because of the way the material has to arch to fit smoothly over the wells. One thing to consider if using the 5th wheel puck system, the 5th wheel sits flat on the floor, at least the several I have seen do, so a thick mat would make it difficult for the 5th wheel to be installed, the Bedrug being compressible should be easier than a more dense mat, so something to consider if you have the puck system.
Mine is in a '19 F350, not sure if the bed or wheel well shape changed since then, or if Bedrug changed something, but mine is pretty reasonably tight.
I did not install mine, I had the Bedrug and cap installed by the same dealer I purchased both from Truck’n America (in Laurel, MD)
