You make a good point. I was considering that option. It’d definitely be superior to the original setup. The answer is probably a combination of a few different factors.

I’m resisting the urge to over engineer. This wasn’t perfect but it’s definitely time tested. It continues to perform even when worn beyond recognition. I guess I’m trying to preserve a bit of that.

Cost and time are a factor; I’ve got an entire truck I’m trying to finish. This level of engineering is pretty minimal. It also keeps replacement parts readily available vs having to remanufacture custom parts every time something wears out.

To summarize… probably cost vs reward; money sure but mostly time. I’m trying to get this thing done. It’s been 5-6 years. I’m tired of not having my truck on the road. I can re-attack specific areas once it’s going if further improvements are needed.

Trying to find a balance somewhere between all that with everything I do.
