I wish I would have dug a little deeper for past issues with Speedway disc conversion install . https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-disc-kit.html
This pretty much describes all the issues and may save someone else some time.
I dug up some pics from when I did my install. It was back in January of 2004....sheesh.
I don't seem to have any pics of the spindle adapter either on or off of the spindle. What was I thinking?

I hear you. I started my truck project Sept 2004. I rhink I have this install sorted out now. We are gettimg snow today and -18C degrees so the project can rest for a couple days.
One thing I did notice Bobby is you may have used two shims to center your calipers? Speedway supplied two sets but so far I have used only one. They don't mention checking the caliper alignment and adding shims if required. I will check that again before final bolt up of rotors.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by shims. Calipers are self centering.
Are you maybe referring to the spacers on the caliper bracket?
Here is a pic of the kit I bought from ECI Hotrod Brakes;
Hmmm. I wonder if there is a difference in the spacers between the kit for 5 on 5 1/2" rotors and the kit for the smaller bolt pattern? That's about the only thing that makes sense to me. Might have been easier for them to package it with both sets of spacers
Temperatures went to 3 degrees above freezing so I was in the garage today and fitted up the front rotors. Calipers are centered I just need to put wheels on to find clearance issues then I will plumb the brake lines.
I used the old spindle washers and nuts as they are much better quality. I havent used the supplied outer spindle spacers. Fit up had me puzzled until I noticed the outer bearing races were already installed on the rotors. Looks like I now have a spare set.
Tip49 check your instruction sheet. My Speedway rotors also came with the outside bearing race (cup) installed. Also included was another set of races. Instructions said to remove those in the rotor and replace with the set provided.

Well that would explain the additional outer bearing cups. I read the instructions a couple times but will definitely check them again, thank you.
If it were me, before I tore back into everything, I'd find out what the application of the rotor is, what the bearing part number is of the bearing for that application, and compare that to the bearing provided. It may be the same, or if it is different, may have a different taper or something which would require the alternate race be installed.
I looked at the installation instructions for kit# 916-31986 again and it does indeed say in section 6 of page 2 that the bearing cup that comes installed in the rotor will not work and that I need to replace it with the parts included.
I'll get it right yet.
Glad you guys have my back.
So I removed the outer bearing cups that came installed with the rotors, part# LM12710 and installed the LM11910 that came with the kit. I repacked inner and outer bearings again, and installed them, hopefully for the last time for a while.
Now I can move on to checking clearance between the calipers and the wheels. I have 15" and 16" wheels. I'll shave the calipers so the 15" wheels clear but will run 16's if I can clear the garage door opening.
From what I remember the rotors are 1/2 ton Ford from 1979-1990 and the inner bearings were for the rotor but the outer bearings were from a mid sized GM car; chevelle, cutlass, skylark, etc.
Somewhere I have it all written down (I hope)

Yeah Bobby, Speedway's literature says the kit rotors fit 79-93 Ford F150 and calipers fit 71-87 Impala, and 48-56 Ford spindles.
I ran the numbers through Napa auto which don't specifically callout outer bearing cups for Ford 48-56 trucks.
I think things should work this time, for one the "drag sound" is gone from turning rotors at hand tightened spindle nut.
