Does anyone know where the outside air temperature sensor is located?
2013 F150 Limited.
I searched YouTube and couldn't find anything for the 09-14
Mine is off by about 10 degrees when it's really cold. Yesterday was 1 degree outside. And the truck read 12. I read you can reset it by holding the AC & Recirculate buttons down. And it went to 15 degrees and then slowly came back down to 12.
Then today it was 7 degrees outside and read 16.
I Noticed this also last month when it was 14 degrees outside and the truck said 26.
Is it possible to replace the sensor yourself?
TIA
I could swear i read somewhere that the truck must be at speed for it to be "accurate". It is likely compensating for wind chill. In my 2013 its usually pretty close, but im usually checking it while driving to get an idea if there will be icing issues. Check the owners manual to see if its got an explanation.

Very easy to replace, the ambient air temp sensor is attached to the radiator support near the horns. Just open the hood and you'll see it.

Only people are affected by wind chill. However if the vehicle is sitting still, engine heat can transfer to the sensor causing an erroneous reading.
Here's how Ford breaks it down.

External Temperature Display
The ambient air temperature sensor is monitored by the PCM. The PCM sends the raw value through the HS-CAN to the BCM . The BCM sends the data through the MS-CAN to the HVAC module. The HVAC module filters and stabilizes the value and sends it back to the BCM . The BCM sends the filtered ambient temperature data to the IPC over the I-CAN . The IPC sends the data over the I-CAN to the FDIM to display the temperature.
While the actual external temperature can vary continuously, the value that is displayed updates at a specific rate depending on whether or not the engine is "hot" and whether or not the vehicle is moving.
When the external temperature is rising, the display updates slowly.
Updates (when the actual external temperature is higher than currently displayed value) is limited to 0.6°C (1°F) every 20 seconds while the vehicle is moving at greater than 32 km/h (20 mph) for more than 60 seconds or 0.6°C (1°F) every 20 minutes if the vehicle is not moving at this speed. This is to prevent the heat from the engine compartment from affecting the accuracy of the display.
When the external temperature is dropping, the display updates quickly.
Updates (when the actual external temperature is lower than currently displayed value) are limited to 0.6°C (1°F) every 2 seconds (regardless of vehicle speed). Consequently the display essentially follows the drop experienced by the external temperature thermistor.
Found it. Does it quick disconnect right there. Or do I have to follow the wire down somewhere?
also happened to notice that it definitely only fails when it's super cold. Outside air temperature is 41. My truck is reading 40. So it's clearly working now while above freezing

Yeah just squeeze the connector tab with your thumb and pull the harness off the sensor then use a flat head screw driver or similar to pry the sensor off the support or pry it off the support then squeeze and pull.
