I just replaced the rear fuel pump on my 1993 f150 and it still doesn’t work so I drove it a little while using the front fuel tank and I came to find out while I was driving it was also pulling fuel from the front tank to the rear tank so it quickly ran the front tank out of gas and idk why
If fuel is returning to your rear tank while running off the front that means the check valve in your rear pump is bad. The valve is not in the hanger. I had the same issue (fuel returning to the rear) and replaced just the pump, I kept the original hanger and sending unit. This fixed the problem for me. It sounds like you received a bad replacement pump.
You have a bad valve in the rear module.
Never replace just the pump.
Always by at least the module if not the whole assemble (hanger, sender & module).

The Module.
