Angry 1989 Bronco Mid Range Power Problems

My Bronco runs fairly well except for when I am crousing along the tranny will up shift, when I tap the gas to speed up a little the engin will bogg down and rattle. I have replaced the cap and rotor, plugs and wires, fuel filter, air filter and pcv valve. I have even tried running sea foam injector cleaner. I am not sure what to check next. Any help would be greatly appreciated. From what I understand the person that owned this vehicle before me was having similar problems. The engin is a 302 and has about 154,000 miles on it.

Have you checked or had your timing checked ? That will cause the rattling / pinging in the engine. You could also try adding some Techron Fuel Injector cleaner and see if it makes a diference down the road or you could get your injectors cleaned at a decent shop but make sure they disconnect your fuel line and run the cleaner in full strength. Some places just do what you can do and pour it in the tank. There are so many things that can couse your problem so it may be worth you getting a new coil as well.

Let us know what happens with it.

Well, I played with the timing a little and that seemed to help. I dont have a timing light yet so this was by ear. As far as I can tell the engin has smothed out some. I think I will buy a timing light anyways and see if this will make it any better. Thanks for the input, I am glad you didn't say something like timing chain. I don't think I have that kind of energy.

yea, sounds like timming. Also, with that many miles, I'd change the fuel filter too.
