2003 Overdrive Blinking

My 2003 V10 O/D on the shifter started blinking the other day. Pulled over and it started blinking again. I got to the mechanic but now it's not blinking and throwing no code. I'm gonna go drive it up and down the highway to get it blinking again then let him hook up the reader.
Any ideas on what this may be???

The fault codes are mandatory for any sort of diagnosis. All that we can be sure of at this point is that the computer didn't like something it "saw".

It did set a code. Your mechanic's scan tool isn't capable of reading it.

Whenever the OD light flashes a code is stored in memory. The code stays in memory for about a month after the last time the light flashed.

I am sure you have seen this before but here it is again...

Get FORScan or FORScan Lite and the recommended OBD II reader. Pull the codes and record them, clear the codes, pull them again and let us know first pull then after clearing information.

We can help after you do this.

I looked at forscan but they have alot of options for purchase. Do I just hook the forscan to a laptop or run it through an Ob scanner? Can you recommend hat FORScan I could order?

FORScan is computer based.
FORScan Lite is for your phone or tablet.

There are a few choices on the OBD II adapter for bluetooth some are read only some allow read and write. If you want to clear codes you need the read and write one..

https://www.obdlink.com/products/obd...p/?ref=forscan

Above is the adapter I purchased. You can find others for less however I stuck with what the program folks recommended. As I have not seen a laptop in years that does not have bluetooth it will work on your computer as well as your phones and tablets.
