Sorry for the delay. 71 hour week.
Yes on the 6400 GVWR. What else is the cert telling me?
Hijack my own thread. In the lower right corner in the box, what is the "F0094 / T0688" mean? I don't recall anyone ever discussing this information. Thanks
I am not sure about those numbers in the corner.
I can say however that the factory rating is shown above for gcwr which is 9550.
if your truck, fuel, gear, and passengers weighs in around 6k, you can tow about 3550lbs…..legally.
So if I'm reading this right, each tire has 2535lb x 4 = 10140 total weight carrying capacity. Of course under ALL the correct conditions. Based on this, the tires will carry GVW plus more. (of course meeting the ideal conditions) Am I missing something? I know I do not want to exceed 80% of that capacity which would put me at 8112lbs.
post #9 shows with 6400 GVWR (weight of truck as measured with all 4 tires, including the trailer tongue wt), you have a max GCWR (combined weight on 4 truck tires plus trailer tires) of 9550lbs.
what is not clear to me, however I suspect is true, is that the GVWR rating is a "legal" rating, and the GCWR rating is a rating from Ford that was derived for warranty implications and not legal implications.
The charts will show the exact same truck but with steeper gears has a higher GCWR. To me, that points towards these charts as derived for warranty and not legality. The truck's GCWR rating should be a function of its chassis and brakes, not a function of gear ratio....when considering safety as the basis.
Anyway that is a seperate topic and as far as what your truck can legally haul, I do believe it's 9550 combined of truck and trailer, or 6400 gvwr... (wt of truck plus tongue wt from trailer)...whichever comes first.
