I am looking to order an XLT shortbox without the 5th wheel prep package and instal a B&W so I can utilize their 4" offset ball.
I am going to order the following two options
Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ with Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System
Individual Trailer TPMS/Customer-Placed Trailer Camera
Since I have a 5th wheel I would think i would want all the connectivity in the bed of the truck, certainly for the 7-way and Pro backup assist module which I understand attaches to the 5th wheel hitch itself, I am less sure about the connector for the TPMS & Trailer Camera if that should also be connected in the bed or at a connector on the bumper. I was assuming I would run the wires for the camera and tpms and follow the 7-way so they all come out of the pin-box together.
Can someone tell me if I order the above options where will the connectors be in the bed/bumper/combination of the two?
Is there anything I have to do aftermarket to make all this work especially since I am not getting the 5th wheel prep package which would have provided me the 7-way connector in the bed of the truck.
The individual trailer TPMS/customer placed camera wiring uses the same connection in your truck box as just the UTT module wiring. "But", there is a different wiring harness. After having my truck for about 7 months, I wanted to add the trailer TPMS. Luckily enough, the dealer I bought my truck from had the individual trailer TPMS/customer placed camera & wiring sitting in a box in the back of the parts department. He thought is was supposed to be with my truck when they sold it to me. I took it home and install the the trailer TPMS system and held on to the customer placed camera. Hope this helps.
I think the only way to get the connectors in the Bed from the factory is when you order the 5th wheel prep package. That connector is pretty easy to source aftermarket... and the wire harnesses will be there under the bed.
Totally agree, got my larger TPMS stems from him for my 5th wheel.
I have the TPMS kit from Ford for my fifth wheel, but haven't installed it yet. This is probably a stupid question, but how do I check to see if the Ford stems are going to work with the rims on my fiver?
