How many GPH/PSI to electric pump a mild/street carbed 460 in a 55 with stock frame rail gas tank ? Regulator? return line? in tank fuel pump? or anything else I need to know? I'm not drag racing , but would like to pass at least one gas station.
The fuel pump you use will have no bearing on whether or not you can pass a gas station with a 460. Your safe cruising range is going to be about 150 miles with a stock 55 gas tank. It doesn't take much of a fuel pump to keep a carburetor happy. 4-6 psi, 80gph max. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...SABEgI9PvD_BwE
That said, the original mechanical pump on the engine should work fine for your application. If you do run an electric pump, be sure to also use the safety shutoff switches; oil pressure and/or inertia switches so you don't dump gas and burst into flames in the event of an unfortunate accident. An electric pump and an open fuel line can make a heck of a mess in a big hurry.
When connected to the electric fuel pump power source, the inertia safety switch is supposed to disconnect the power from the fuel pump when the vehicle is in a jarring accident.
Without this cutoff switch, the electric fuel pump could continue to run, thus spewing fuel over a hot exhaust system or other ignition source causing a fire which will further ruin your day if your day hasn't already had enough fun.
I just ran an edelbrock mechanical pump on my 429 when I had it carbed. Really no need for the added complexity and noise of an electric fuel pump if running a carb.
Holley blue pump with a regulator will cover you, even after more engine mods. I always leave room to grow when I do upgrades, I hate buying stuff twice.
the safety shut off switch can be operated by an oilpressure switch, that means as soon as you don´t have oilpressure anymore your electric fuelpump will be switched off.
You can wire that by the distributor also ... as soon as you don´t have a spark the fuelpump is off, there are relais available.

Saves time cranking to refill the float bowl at least
