I just ordered the 2022 f50 XL 6.7 3.31 4x4 with power equipment package and STX package and have some questions. Excited to join the community
Plan of use is Residential Construction. Not a ton of towing. Most of the time driving between jobs and moving modest weight in bed or small 12ft trailer. I will have a dump trailer in near future and a few other toys hence the reason for the upgrade from Ram 1500.
Pricing- I was able to get about 900 under MSRP plus Tax. (no dealer doc fees or anything). Came out to 57,691 Plus tax. Curious how I fared as it is not normal for me to not get more of a discount off MSRP, but then again I have not purchased in this market before.
Order timeline- Anyone order within last few months getting any traction on production timeline? Dealer told me 3-8 months...ha
Must haves- What are some of the top things I should do in regards to maintenance protocol. I can read all day about a million things, but what are people here doing? Additives, oil type etc. Also went with diesel for better mileage, and yes I know that is pretty much pointless for what these trucks are made for, but would still like to scrape what I can from it.
You did fine on the price in this market. With some advance planning, acquiring the X-plan or begging Ford for a cash offer certificate you could do better but I paid MSRP for my new truck and it doesn't bother me a bit.
Buying the diesel to save money will probably backfire on you. That is the most expensive luxury option on your truck. You can buy a lot of gasoline for $8-10k extra. You could avoid the need for those additives and DEF fluid and more expensive services. You would have double the torque though for whatever that is worth. Mileage differences are pretty small anymore. My 7.3 truck will do 17 mpg highway, averaging 14-15 in my mixed winter driving, does 8-10 towing. Good Luck

Yea I should clarify I did NOT buy the diesel to save money. But I do like to try to get maximum efficiency out of anything I have.
I thought about the Gasser, but just always wanted the diesel. ha
Download the current owner's manual. Read everything in there about maintenance and what oil to use. Read about the DPF and regenerations, DEF, and the fuel filters. Read about the exhaust brake. If you think using additives will help you sleep at night, then by all means. The additive guys will be along shortly to pitch their favorites. The more you are familiar with the manual, the easier it will be for you to own a diesel. There are a lot of people who try to make it as hard as possible. But it's very easy. Diesels aren't for everybody. So don't worry, be happy.
I'd say you did OK in the market with your price. As far as wait times, no one knows because it seems to be so random. My new truck came in less than 8 weeks. Others who have ordered pretty much the same configuration have waited many months and are still waiting. Cross your fingers and be patient is the only advice I have for that.
Congrats. Make sure your dealer submitted your order in your name. You should have signed a copy of the order and an email directly from Ford indicating your order was received. Time line is anyone's guess but if I had to guess I would say yours arrives sooner than orders for fancier trimlines and more options.

Some have suggested that the higher trims get built sooner because they add more to Fords bottom line per unit. In a time when profits are going to be thin, they need to pump their numbers up as best they can. I had to bail on a "simple" STX trim truck because they couldn't (wouldn't) get it built. Lots of guys getting Lariats quickly, it is the most popular trim level ordered on the forum.
As mentioned though the timeline is a complete crap shoot. If I were to order again I would drive to the biggest volume dealer in the state and negotiate a top priority code for my build. That seems to be the biggest factor in getting one built and not ordering options that are on a commodity hold.
Short trips and lots of idling aren't great for a diesel, hopefully you have some regular extended trips to get the truck good and warm and keep the emissions crap happy.
Do yourself a favor and read a lot on here. Pretty much every question you asked has been discussed ad nauseum here. I spend pretty much all of my time on here just searching and reading existing threads. The bad part is my list of wants has grown tremendously after seeing what other people are doing to their trucks.
Hi Mbaden,
Welcome to the forum! I also got my superduty for residential construction. We have 2 dump trailers and just ordered a Nedland gooseneck rolloff setup. With dumpster rental prices, we will make out much better. You'll have a very capable truck for $57k. Exciting!
Thank you all for the replies. I'm hoping my build time gets me in it somewhere around summer time. From what I have been reading though I am not holding my breathe. I look forward to being a part of this community
