'89 F150 E4OD swap
i have a 1989 F150 with an E4OD but i would like to swap it for a C4 i think i found one in a '79 LTD it only has one "D" on the shift column...am i going to have problems with linkage or ECU...please help...thanks first swap of this type

I've contemplated a similar swap in my 90 F150 with 4.9L and E40D, only with a C6. Been told it can't be done without also changing the computer (at least) and maybe other components...since the E40D is linked to the computer. I'm stubborn though and have been thinking...why wouldn't a PCM and C6 out of an 89 F150 work in my 90? Know this combination was availabe in 89. You might look for a donor truck with this setup instead of that C4, and investigate the possibilities. The C6 is supposedly much stronger/reliable than the C4. Let us know what you decide or find out.
