This problem has only happened when the climate is really hot, as I approach a stop, the truck starts to iddle rough up and down at the 1000 rpm mark. Sometimes it stalls and when I turn it back on it starts fine, but then when I put it on drive it dies. If I put it in reverse it does not die unlike when I shift to drive. This happens now and then when is hot outside. No codes are given when this happens. New plugs have been installed and k&n air filter. Please help.
This could be many things? How many miles are on it?I't could be fuel filter, incorrect sparkplug gap(did you ck gap before installing),vacum leak,MAF cotaminated. Not having code given have to do TS and elimination.Hope this helps? All else fails take it in $$$$$$$$
The IAC valve is located just to the rear of the Throttle body on the drivers side, it should have two bolts holding it to the intake (it's kind of a cylinder looking thing that is mounted horizonally). just pull off the IAC and use some Intake and Throttle body cleaner to clean it out, it may take quite a bit of spray.
Make sure to do this on a cool engine, as to avoid the chance of a fire. While cleaning the IAC it would be a good idea to clean the Throttle body as well.
Make sure that you use Intake and Throttle body cleaner, and not Carb Cleaner, they are not the same.
