I did a search and was not able to find what I am looking for. Does anyone which Snap-On adapter is used to pressure test the cooling system at the Degas bottle? My cooling system was building to normal pressure the other day but topped out at 7PSI. Then it started DROPPING!!! Got down to 4PSI as I pulled into my destination. Came out 15 minutes later and it was at 0 PSI. On the way home it would only climb to 2PSI.
I'm pretty sure it's the bottle or cap leaking. But I'm NOT loosing any coolant. Runs normal. NO emissions from the tail pipe. Coolant is still clean nothing floating on top of it in the degas bottle. Would like to pressurize the system to confirm where it is leaking and just replace that part. I hate throwing parts at problems. Thanks, B.
I just tee into one of the small vapor hoses to the degas bottle and add a Schrader fitting. You can add air, and check pressure with a stick gauge (get one that is 0-20 or 0-15 psi). That should be good enough, then you can bubble test the cap as a start. Or - I can send you a cap for a few $$'s shipping. I have a few of them.
Thanks Mark. I think I have found the adapter that will work with my Snap-On tester. Found a couple on Ebay for a 3rd the cost of new. I'm going to snag one of those. Not a bad idea to have anyway. B.
What is this SnapOn tester? For the degas bottle cap? I would not connect directly to the degas bottle, rather do it with a "T" on one of the two thin hoses , when you pump up the system to 15psi, you can test at the same time (with a leak detector spray) whether the cap withstands the pressure.
