How long do you guys think it takes to work all of the air out of the coolant system?
I replaced my injector cups, installed a complete set of o-rings, water pump, thermo stat, hoses, degas bottle, radiator cap, a new oil cooler gasket set and ELC coolant.
I filled the system and then ran the truck for over an hour after it got up to operating temperature. I noticed the coolant had dropped approximately 2" over night. I haven't found any leaks or drips anywhere. Refilled this evening when I got home and put the pressure tester on it and pumped it up to 15 PSI. cold. For the last two hours it has sat at 15 PSI. and hasn't lost any pressure. I'm going to leave it on over night and check it when I get home tomorrow. I'm thinking so far the loss of level was just the engine cooling off and getting the air out of the system.
Thanksnfornthe input.
I couldn't remember how long it took on these trucks since the last time I changed the coolant. I have one of those foren cars that it takes a couple of days to truly get all the air out of the system.
Same thing here. Switched to waterless coolant and did a complete drain and flush, had to top it off a couple of times. Its been the same now for a few years.
