Can anyone identify this boost relief valve which I purchased many years ago (can't recall the vendor) and the reason it has two relief valves VS the ones I have seen out there with only one?
The relief valves were not consistent, so they installed two to ensure the MAP sensor wouldn't see high boost and defuel. We are lucky to have components like the Riffraff OCR that is very accurate and eliminates defueling and codes.
So that compressor safety valve was installed to keep the MAP from seeing high boost? We used to do the same thing with fish tank valve on the Dodge turbo cars...allowed us to cheat in Showroom Stock racing.
Yes, it bled off boost to the MAP sensor to make the PCM think it was only seeing XX psi of boost. They were not always reliable though, cheap regulators were also used as well.
