Whether you use a single stage urethane or a clear urethane over a base coat it's still urethane.
I painted a KW in 2002 with urethane and it still looks good. for an amateur painter getting it to look good when you're done is more important than making sure a crappy looking paint job still looks equally crappy 40 years from now.

I have enjoyed this paint discussion because I have dabbled in painting a lifetime. I maybe do an overall finish once every 5-years. I still get nervous and have low confidence in my color coats, because of the infrequency of paint application and product changes.
Year 2020 was the first time ever to have Paint Mart mix up a factory color and put it in an aerosol spray can for painting cowling pieces. $30 / per can, but was sure convenient. I did not like the spray pattern as it was more like a fire-hose pattern with almost no fan. So I scrapped that idea for larger surfaces.
