Picked up a new Tilt Cab. '61 C700 Lincoln 302 4V Y Block. 31k original miles. ZERO RUST!! Been sitting for 5 years. Used as a water truck at a fair grounds. Had to dig it out of the blackberries. Needs a carb and a clean gas tank. Maintenance manager said it ran strong when they parked it. Here are some pics....
Cool truck and looks to be in amazing condition. What are the plans for it?
I'm going to trim the rear of the frame back to the first crossmember, put a fifth wheel on it, and then use it to pull an old school equipment trailer that I'm currently looking for. The truck will be used to haul my projects and also will be used as a mobile stage for my band. I plan on making 4 foot removable sides on hinges that will drop down to extend the stage. Something like this.
Going from memory there were two widths, 6.75” and 7.50”, but I really need to look them up before having that be my answer. Same on tires. Easily they would take 10R22.5s, and maybe 11R22.5s. Metrics I’ll have to look up, and will come back to clean up the post. Stu
Edit - Yeah, the 6.75” is Budd 69640 and 7.50” is Budd 70420. Only ones produced by any manufacturer. Only listed in Budd references through 1967.
The 6.75” will take either a 9R22.5” or 10R22.5”. Or 235/80R22.5. The 7.50” will take the others plus an 11R22.5” and 255/80R22.5”. These according to my 2012 copy of the Tire and Rim Association Annual. Stu
