Why whatever, if your goal is only looks 👍
If it’s looks along with performance he’s right… that new location will be way hotter than stock location… but if you don’t care than… yup whatever 🤷♂️
Oh and the Motorcraft air filter will handle more dirt than your new unit and dirt is way more important to filter out on a Diesel vs. gaining a few questionable CFM’s…

That intake is definitely pulling in air from all around it including the warm air from the engine. The fact that you think this is getting more cool air than the stock system shows you really have no understanding of the basics of thermodynamics. Sure it looks pretty but you're definitely not going to get better results. Also those k&n type filters are known to allow more debris in. Also make sure you follow the cleaning procedure correctly and do it often. Most people that put these type of filters on don't maintain them properly.
