You really don't need a cold air intake, the Ford filter does a fine job and probably cleans the air better than anything on the market and that is the whole idea behind an air cleaner. You would have to have a wicked tune on your truck for the OEM filter not to be able to keep up with the air demand.
I put a Banks cold air intake on a 2017 f350 6.7L I've been very happy with the improvement. I'm waiting for some nice weather so I can install their exhaust upgrade and derringer tuner.
I'll just lean in and say that anyone who thinks a tuner and high end mods on this particular truck seems like a good idea. Your wrong.
Save the money you spend for devastating costly repairs if you even drag your foot across the stock performance line.
Mild tune, ok. Driven responsible all-right, heavy maintenance schedule is imperative in step with the afore mentioned to get any mileage without dumping thousands.
New users in this forum equate to two different people. The guy that buys the truck and develop immediate problems because the original/previous owner hot rodded it. The other bought a good running truck and turned up the dial until a problem arose.
It's just not the platform for heavy mods and abusive driving habits.
I would stick with the stock Ford intake setup. I see people with K&N systems and that's fine until they dust the engine. If you can see through the filter then you will get dust and dirt. It's something that isn't broke and for that reason you shouldn't be trying to fix it. JMO..
