I'm very familiar with these, but this one in question says "may require custom tuning", if anyone has this style (in link), did you have to get a tune or was it a simple drop in? My old 7.3 diesel had a cai for years and was a simple swap and no tuning, just not sure about these new trucks.
It is likely a disclaimer that, to see the full benefit of the intake, you may need to adjust the tuning of the computer. They probably have had a few complaints that 'no gains were seen immediately after install,' which is pretty common - the computer has to monitor parameters for a while until it can adjust the tune itself.

Well, your "old 7.3 diesel" didn't have a mass air flow sensor like your current 6.7 diesel does, so changes in airflow didn't require any computer adjustments.
But, you do know that, computer re-tuning or not, you won't see any appreciable power or fuel economy increases from that "cold air intake", right?
Any increases you could see would be just from the computer tuning, the oem intake has way more than sufficient airflow to handle most any tuning changes that could be made. The engine would have to be making significantly more power before any air intake upgrade would make any difference.
Your stock intake system is a cold air intake, with enough capacity to accomodate a moderate tune. IMO A CAI kit is a waste of money unless you are upgrading turbos, injectors and engine internals.
I'm aware of the "lack of power gains", more interested in better filtering if possible. My '97 once had a recall on the oem air cleaner lid hold down screws, original ones were know to fail and allow unfiltered air to get in through the case halves, so I installed the "TYMAR" style and was impressed with it being sealed at both ends. After replacing my current air filter a couple of times, I realized I'm not too impressed with the fitment. Probably just me lol, ...........bored while waiting for knee surgery and got to thinking.
I just got an answer from No Limit Fab via email.......I had asked what the diff was between Stage 1 and Stage 2. Their reply was: stage 1, 4" and is for bone stock trucks with no tuning whatsoever, stage 2 is 4.5 and trucks with any sort of tune
Went ahead with the install and am very pleased with it, also did some research and learned that this filter will hold 53% more dirt and a replacement filter is half the cost of the oem. No CEL either.
The filter is located right in front of the factory inlet from under the battery, plus the huge air gap between the fender liner and engine bay,..........most of all, I like the look.
