Electric Fuel System

I cant get my 1985 Ford 3/4 ton 4/4 302 EFI system to run I can put starting fluid in the barrel ports and it will fire and start but not with the fuel system. I have replaced the computer, the fuel pressure regulator, and the electric part on the electronic ignition to no avail. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

I'm not sure where parts are located on your truck but, they are all the same. Start with the inertia switch. Make sure that it hasn't "tripped". If that is okay, c, check to see if you have power there when the key is turned on. There should be power for a couple of seconds after the key is on so, you want to hook up a test light or volt meter and watch it as the key is turned. Let me know what you find after that and we can go from there.

O.K., Next thing to do will be to go back "up" the circuit. Find the fuel pump relay. I believe it should be mounted near the computer (but I could be wrong) The EEC relay should be with it. My wire colrs may be off here. Do you have a O/LB wire on the pump relay? It should have power at all times. If you have a R/BK wire and a T/LG wire, these are the control wires and should have power for a couple of seconds after the key is turned on(same as before)

Check the EEC relay. with the key "on" you should have power at 3 out of 4 wires there. Let me know what you find there.

You should have two fuel pump relays. one for the tank pumps, and the other is for the high presure pump. They should be on the left side (drivers side) on the fender well near firewall, they will be square in shape they come in different colors depending on application and you will need to know the color because that is how the parts house IDs them if you need them. You have fuel pumps in both tanks and a high presure pump forward of your tank switch over valve, drivers side under cab. You do have gas in tanks I hope. I saw a guy send alot of time and money once to find out he was out of gas. Hope this helps.

There just a square plastic box about 2" long, and about an 1" square, they will be yellow or gray or some color depending on application. go to a parts house and ask them to show you one. Let get this truck going.

There's only one fuel pump relay, and it's near the Left hood hinge. The EEC relay is nearby. One of them is brown and the other is green, but I never remember which is which.
