i went to move the 2000 yesterday and it will not start because the gas went bad .
it has been sitting about 6 months, since it did not snow this past winter.
how do i go about cleaning the fuel system?
i was thinking suck the gas tank empty with an electric fuel pump, and blowing out the lines with air. does this sound rite?
I think I would look someplace else beside the fuel that is in the tank.
I have trucks here that has two year old fuel in the tanks and they run OK but maybe not 100%.
well, it's alive again. 7 gallons of stale gas out of the tank, and 3 hours to purge the lines. it finally started. i put 1 half pint of seafoam in the i gallon can the fuel pump is in, and let it run for 3 minutes to circulate the seafoam. it is now sitting to let the seafoam do it's magic.

Yup- at 6 months fuel turns to varnish....IMHO, I add MMO (marvel mystery oil) to the fuel (cars, toys, lawnmover, etc.) and never had a problem.
Reformulated gas is crap. Lower mpg and goes bad in about 4 months or so. We have it here in our county, so I usually fill up 14 miles down the road in the next county with 100% real gas.
Also, I add a bottle of Stabil now as part of my normal fuel maintenance, once a month, and a bottle of IsoHEET Dry Gas. Never a fuel problem. Also, occasional doses of Marvel Mystery Oil are excellent, as it has a light lubricant that helps lube anbd keep clean modern in-tank fuel pumps.
Lastly, keep your gas tank at least half full at all times. Running your tank at 1/4 full or less causes your fuel pump to run HOT. Gasoline acts as a coolant for fuel pumps, and from the half level to full (preferably) the pumps run cool = long fuel pump life.
Lastly, modern gasoline with an ethanol blend is pure crap. It cuts fuel mileage by up to 15% and shuns peak engine performance. Thanks to our federal government, but when have the feds ever cared about the people that they are supposed to represent?
