Good morning Fellas, I'm looking for a USED set of 4 OE Ford script center caps for a 92-97 F250/350 for a srw Alcoa truck. My wheels are the 4 prog units. I figured someone might have a set kickin around in the back yard and I get a little more traffic here. Thanks.
Just had one of these stolen off my truck - the rear/deep one. Called the local Ford dealer - yep, they are in the system, $120 and take 2 weeks.
I had seen one at an online Ford dealer and it showed a picture of the box label and it said genuine FoMoCo, and Made In China...
So I asked the local dealer if theirs was Made in China, and she yelled "Ford doesn't make parts in China!!!" and ended the call.
So, I ordered one from the online dealer ($89). It arrived in superb packaging/bubble wrap, has Ford label with all trademarks and lawyer talk, and Made in China in 3 different languages. Cap has Ford script in center, perfect chrome plating, and Ford logo and correct part numbers/date stamps molded in on the backside, including the words Made in China. The online dealer is a large established genuine Ford dealer in the Detroit area. I seriously doubt that this is a counterfeit/unlicensed part.
Dorman makes a cap identical to the real one for half the price - it just doesn't have the Ford script.
I looked for used ones everywhere, and the real ones were almost the price of the new ones, so I just told myself it was from Santa anyway.
Dang thieves.
Those OEM caps SUCK, especially used ones. The placate gets brittle and the "fingers" the grab the rim snap off then you loose the whole cap.
The aftermarket design is MUCH better, it uses a wire ring that grabs the lugs nuts so you are not dependent on 4 placate clips to retain anything

I can appreciate that Brad, I know you know your Fords. I just want the Ford Script and dont want shiny new
center caps on a patinated truck with less then new Alcoas. I’d take my chances with some appropriately priced used ones. Course, there seem to be none at the moment.
I have a nice clean set of the 857 or 858 that I can sell. They are pictured in the link in post 2. PM me if interested.
I appreciate the offer but I’m not quite sure how those steel wheel hubcaps relate to the aluminum Alcoa wheel center caps that I’m searching for? Was my request confusing?
