Amen to that one. LOL
My friend that I bought the truck from has a huge press and he's always willing to help.
Once those are done all 8 u-joints will be new.

Back when I was changing the front differential fluid I noticed the the waster pump had been seeping a tiny little bit from the weep hole.
I'd swear it never "leaked" until the day I ordered a new water pump. It should be here any day.

This truck is just like having a wife, it LOVES spending my money.

I have a good friend that could help me make a great video, pictures and all.
The more work I do to it the more I like it.
To be honest though, I had no idea there was soo much wrong with it.
I had seen the truck from a distance but never ever looked inside it let alone drive it.
I basically bought it sight unseen. Sure glad I bought it regardless.
Well for the $800 purchase price you are still way ahead of the curve my friend! As you have found its easy to get into thousands of dollars just making basic repairs (not cutting corners) to make these trucks reliable and safe to drive even when you do all the work yourself. But in the end its worth it to be able to climb in, hit the key and go anywhere with full confidence. Much of what you are doing could easily need done on a Highboy costing $5, 6, or 7k.

I stole the truck, no question there. I tried to give him more money because I knew it was worth more but he refused.
He said he loved that I was getting the truck because he knew I would take care of it and fix what needed fixing.
I read comments like yours but I really have no idea what its worth or what it will be worth when I'm done fixing what needs to be fixed.
Not that it really matters because it wont be going up for sale.
I want it to be reliable. I want to be able to get in, hit the key and go anywhere I want regardless of the distance.
Its getting closer to being there and I am looking forward to the day I can drive it every day.

I'm thinking I might even repaint the hood.

Might i suggest spicer life series joints and full circle clips while you have it apart? keeps front ujoint caps from spitting and losing an axle shaft. just a little grinding required inside the axle shaft ujoint ears to allow the clips

A little off topic.

My other truck is a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD WT.
I bought it used back in June 2013 with 20,000 miles on it.

I have changed the oil and filter every 5000 miles since I bought it and I changed it yesterday.
It actually used a little oil since its last oil change.
Carrying my 4000 pound camper for all 5000 miles I'm quite pleased.

Today it gets new brakes. The ones that are on it came on ot from the factory - 230,000 miles off a set of brakes!!!

This has been an excellent truck. The most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned.

My car is a 2007 Lincoln Town Car with only 105,000 miles on it.

My truck kicked my butt yesterday.
New water pump, upper and lower radiator hoses, new thermostat, heater hose, all new hose clamps and two new fan belts.
While putting the water pump on one of gaskets slipped out ad I didn't notice it until it was all put back together and filled up with some fresh antifreeze.
Then I noticed a small drip. Everything had to come back off to get the gasket back in there.
Two cans of degreaser and a pressure washer and it barely put a dent in the grease. Its thick and 45 years old.
Its going to take a high pressure steam cleaner so that's not going to happen for a long time.
Just too many other things need fixing.

I hurt this morning. I'm getting too old for this kind of work.

I ordered two new belts for it and they were the wrong belts.
I had two matched sets of Motorcraft belts that I had for my '72 F-250 and to my surprise they fit this truck.
The alternator and power steering take the same belt.

I was offered $6000 for my truck yesterday.

Sorry, but its not for sale.

I have an extra glove box light and the first person who private messages me their name and address I will mail it to you for free.
