First of all - getting a creaking sound when you first put weight on the truck - I've replaced pretty much every booted part up front, new shocks, brakes all that. I didn't replace the coil springs - so I'm leaning towards that being the issue there, but could as easily be leaf but I wouldn't think that would cause an issue when I get in the truck as I'm 185lbs.
In turn was looking at new coil springs but I'm not sure which to get..... I would be looking at 1 of the moog listed in this. I have short bed crew cab I believe around 155" wheelbase
Onto the 2nd question which I've read some about but have never seen a "fix" for - When I push my brake pedal it creaks a frog like sound. I can push in let off push in let off and it does it. I've replaced master cylinder and brake booster with really no change, I'm left thinking maybe it's the brake slides on the caliper? I can grease them but I wondered if anyone else had thoughts on this?
Pretty sure the 844s are on the front of the dually, well I did put Moog progressive rates on it and I have a 155" WB. Nicer ride for sure with my Bil HDs. If 2x4, ever done I beam bushings? Radius arm ones?
Something may be loose for fart noises or it could be the driver.
My truck is in fact a 2wd
I haven't done the I-beam bushing yet no, and nor the radius arm - although I was looking at doing that at some point. I will check into those and get them replaced soon I suppose, do you recommend changing the coil springs? I have KYB Monomax shocks
This seems to be what I need for the I-beam but not 100% can you confirm? Trying to find the energy suspension stuff for it - I really don't want to change this again, I've had this front end apart once already to do ball joints and all that fun stuff.
I've already changed the entire steering linkage stuff, including the tie rod ends... like 1500$ worth of moog parts! Did it all when I changed the shocks... should've done the rest while I was at it.
HA, I know the feeling. I did I beam ones after I did radius arms and brakes as well as the aforementioned springs and shocks. Basically did it all twice
THIS time I am being smarter on the 4.9. Probably toss shocks on just for now as easy and get it shaken down, then do it all at once.
Could be fully related to the noise I hear from other areas..... drives me nuts! I have others of driving down rough roads that it makes noises similar
I'm tempted to replace my steering shaft with the borgeson 981 steering shaft, I hear or read that it takes the slop out of the steering as some of the joints in the factory one aren't the best.
I greased the front end last night, tie rods, ball joints, steering linkage all that - seemed to help the sound but still getting some sound in the cab, I'm hopeful the new bushings may help. At the same time I would love it if I could remove all the slop in the steering so that new shaft sounds nice other than the price. Compared to everything else on the truck that I've fixed, it's not that much lol
so I've got a weird issue regarding the brakes, they seem to work okay regardless of the issue but sometimes the pedal is stiff at the top (brakes fine) and sometimes it's got a bit of pedal before I hit brakes. And then on top of that, the other day after I flipped the ccv back the correct way, when I fired up the truck I heard clicking from the vacuum pump when I pushed the brakes (I'm sure the 2 aren't correlated, that's just when I noticed it)
I'm leaning towards a vacuum issue here? Literally I can brake fine coming up to a stop light, then moments later the pedal is hard. I may pull the hose off the booster at home and see how much vacuum I get, other than that not sure where to go.
I would love to do the hydroboost conversion, but that's more money pulled from my injector funds!
