I have a plain Jane 2008 F150, v6 automatic. The cruise, backup lights, ac compressor don't work. The brake and abs lights are lit. I get a code saying the brake light switch is out of range in the koeo test. No fuses are blown that I can find. The guy I got the truck from said fuse 14 was blowing, but I can't get it to blow, nor can I figure out why none of this stuff works. Any ideas? Thanks
The abs circuit will show abs fail light if power to it is lost . Mine has crankcase heater circuit on same its the one at the manifold so moisture coming from drivers valve cover hose will not freeze if below 32 -35 f . My heater went bad so I got in it on a cold morning and bam -abs light . Unplugged heater at manifold a year ago still haven't replaced it .. These fuses have many circuits on them .
I can change the switch but I hate to since the brake lights are working. I can't imagine the switch killing all those things, but I guess it's possible.
I've changed the fuse, even though the old one wasn't blown, what else would stop the power from the fuse box?
If it wasn't blown, there's no point in replacing it.
Time to graduate to the next level in diagnosing the issue. You're going to need a meter or test light to see whether or not power is actually making it to the F14 socket pins when the key is in the RUN positions. While you're at it, also check for power to fuses F15, F16, F18, & F18, also with the key in the RUN position.
Already tested socket, it's hot on one side just like it is supposed to be. There has to be a distribution node somewhere that the fuse feeds that goes to all the different things. Where can I find a free wiring schematic for the truck?
