I know someone on this forum has been there and done that so please help me out! Keep in mind I’m the usual parking lot mechanic, I do everything as basic and without help as possible. I know a guy with a welder, we can weld the rockers and cab corner if it comes down to it but has anyone done it without?
also have you guys bought the actual rockers and cab corners or are you guys welding sheet metal to the cab? I hate the rust on the truck and I’m trying to do it the cheapest but best way possible. This is my first fight with body work so I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing….
So I’m thinking just spend a few hundred on the panels online, and take them in to be professionally put on. You have any idea how much ships charge to weld?

Nope, I spent about $600 on my cab corner and some under body repairs a few years ago. Some shops don't like you brining your own parts in to have them install them so I'd check on that before I did it. Thin metal has it's characteristics when you weld it, it warps and you have to know how to deal with that to prevent it.
The metal work is only part of the job. If you don't properly protect the new metal from the elements inside and out, you'll be wasting your time. Seam sealer, epoxy primer, good paint preparation, etc are all very important. I'm certainly to expert but just offering a few tips from what I've learned
