Forscan Lite

Howdy All.

I had a MacBook Pro with the Intel processor and I could boot Windows and use Forscan. I just bought a new MacBook with the M1 processor, which can not run Windows.

I was looking at Forscan Lite. I know I can't change things like the full version. I am more interested in just figuring out what is causing a CLE or checking error codes.

Will it do it?

Thanks

I don't have the app but did look into it before. It can be used to read and reset DTC's... among other things.

I've never done it but I've been told that you could run Boot Camp and use Windows on a Mac. But Apple has come back with their own chip, not an Intel so maybe a Windows option is off the table?
I just bought a cheap Lenovo laptop that is used strictly for FORScan. As far as using something to pull codes, there many cell phone apps that work with any number of OBD II adapters. I think I have like 3 different adapters. I mostly use BlueDriver and Kiwi but there are other less expensive options out there for the iPhone.

I was running a VM on my last laptop. This one has the Apple M1 chip so I can not run Windows native. I can run an ARM image but it is not worth the hassle of setting it up then paying $50 or $100 a year for Parallel to keep it running.

Bootcamp does not work on the M1 chip.

I have been using Forscan so I am comfortable with it. I really don't mess with it much anymore, so getting a second laptop for just that is not a good deal for me.

Thanks

Not on the M1 chip. The MacBooks that can do it are the Intel based MacBooks. If I want to run it in a VM I have to buy another program and pay a yearly subscription, then it will only run an ARM image of Windows not the full version.

Thanks
Mike

The price that we Apple users pay. But it's really all I know and I'd never go to the other side.

I use intel computers but run Linux on everything. I hate Windows.

MacOS is based on BSD and is a solid OS but prefer freedom of linux.
